Leadership Growth Tips: Why Now is Always the Right Time

Recently, I was chatting with some incredible folks about leadership, growth, and what gets in the way of us reaching our full potential. One thing that really struck a chord was this idea of the "Timing Gap." You know, that feeling that it's just not the right time to start something new, to chase a dream, or to really invest in your growth as a leader.

Ever been there? I know I have.

Maybe you're thinking:

  • "I'm too busy right now."

  • "I'll start next week, next month, next year..."

  • "Things need to be perfect first."

I get it. Life is chaotic, and there's always something that seems more urgent. But here's the truth: the perfect time will never arrive.

The Law of Diminishing Intent

There's this concept called the Law of Diminishing Intent, and it's something I think about a lot. It basically says that the longer you wait to do something you should do now, the greater the odds that you'll never actually do it.

Think about it: that great idea you had last year that you never acted on... that book you meant to read that's still sitting on your shelf... that skill you wanted to learn but haven't started…

The longer you wait, the harder it becomes to actually take that first step.

So, What Can We Do About It?

How do we break free from this "timing gap" and start moving forward today?

  1. Re-evaluate your priorities: Is your personal and professional growth truly a priority? If not, why not?

  2. Start small: You don't have to overhaul your entire life overnight. Pick one small thing you can do today to move closer to your goals.

  3. Embrace imperfection: Stop waiting for the "perfect" moment. It's okay to stumble, to learn, to adjust as you go.

  4. Accountability: Find a mentor, a coach, or a friend who will support you and help you stay on track.

The Time is Now

Leadership isn't about waiting for the perfect moment; it's about making the most of the moment you're in. It's about taking action, learning from your experiences, and constantly striving to become the best version of yourself.

So, my challenge to you this week is simple: Identify one thing you've been putting off and take action on it today.

Let's break free from the "timing gap" and start leading with intention, passion, and purpose.

You've got this!
